There are many indicators that suggest your DC jack or power socket is damaged which include:- Loose socket, where charger has to be adjusted to get power; Laptop flickers which means the power is alternating between AC and battery; no power to laptop at all; jack port gets hot or has even melted the casing.
We can solve laptop charging problems for all laptop manufacturers including Acer, Sony, Apple, Toshiba, HP, Compaq, Packard Bell, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, Lenovo and many more.
Replacing laptop DC Jacks or charger points is one of the most common fixes we carry out at our Rugby workshop. Because the point is so fragile and vulnerable they are often the first thing that breaks. Continual plugging and unplugging the charger will lead to wear and tear too.
In order to replace the jack point the whole machine has to be stripped down and more often than not the DC jack point is soldered to the motherboard. This has to be released and a new component fitted before the laptop is re-assembled. Depending on our workload we can usually turn these repairs round in 24 - 48 hours.
Just drop your laptop in to our Rugby repair centre where we carry out all Laptop DC jack repairs and replacements. If you are away from Rugby, give us a call and if you can send your laptop to us we can still carry our the repair.
